A B S T R A C T

The purpose of the research -  to assess the necessity of implementing the digital manat in the banking system of Azerbaijan and to analyse its impact on the transformation of accounting systems, while evaluating the prospects for digital development of the national financial infrastructure in the context of international experience.

The methodology of the research - the research is based on the analysis of existing academic literature, a comparative evaluation of international experiences, and the examination of conceptual documents published by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan regarding the digital manat project.

The practical importance of the research - the study provides practical recommendations to support the decision-making process for implementing the digital manat, preparing accounting systems in the banking sector for digital transformation, and guiding strategic planning within financial institutions, thereby contributing to the formation of a national digital financial ecosystem.

The results of the research - the research concludes that the introduction of the digital manat is essential for Azerbaijan from technological, institutional, and economic perspectives, and identifies a significant need for transformation within accounting systems, highlighting the crucial role of cooperation between the Central Bank and commercial banks for the successful implementation of the initiative.

The originality and scientific novelty of the research - this study is the first to systematically analyse the implementation of a digital national currency in the context of Azerbaijan and its impact on accounting systems, proposing scientifically grounded models and risk management mechanisms by comparing international practices with local infrastructure realities.
