CHARACTERISTICS AND TRENDS OF FOOD SUPPLY DEVELOPMENT IN THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN

The purpose of the research - to study the international problem of food safety and consider mechanisms for its solution, as well as to identify areas for strengthening food safety in Azerbaijan.

The methodology of the research - consists of the analysis and evaluation of scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists devoted to the issues of development of the food market and its regulation, works of economists in the field of food safety and materials of scientific conferences on this topic.

The practical importance of the reesarch - expanding supply and procurement infrastructure will be essential to improve the agricultural supply chain, prevent crop losses, extreme price volatility and further reduce reliance on imports.

The results of the research consist of the following conclusions: the food market should be considered as a general concept characterizing a certain type of economic activity and the formation of economic relations and relations based on market or administrative-distribution mechanisms; the development of the food market is determined by the state of commodity supply and demand of the population; the monetary income of the population is also an important indicator of the standard of living and the state of the food market; changes in monetary income and the standard of living of the population determine changes in the structure of consumption, which, in turn, is reflected in the food market.

The originality and scientific novelty of the research lies in the development of a set of scientific and methodological provisions that ensure the safety of food products based on the development of the food market.
