IMPROVEMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL REPORTING IN COMMERCIAL BANKS

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the research is to examine the existing methodological foundations of the accounting system and the preparation and presentation of financial statements in commercial banks, to theoretically justify the necessity of their improvement, and to propose practical recommendations for eliminating existing gaps in this field.

The methodology of the research – the study employs a systematic approach, logical generalization, and analysis methods.

The practical importance of the research – the implementation of the proposals put forward as a result of the study in commercial banks will significantly contribute to the improvement of accounting practices and enhance the quality of financial statements in line with the needs of information users. At the same time, it will expand opportunities for the digitalization and transparency of the accounting and reporting system in banks.

The results of the research – the article substantiates the necessity of refining reporting and accounting processes in the banking sector and aligning them with modern technological requirements. Justified proposals for modifications to the Chart of Accounts and several regulatory legal acts have been presented.

The originality and scientific novelty of the research – the article introduces, for the first time, a proposal to add a new group of accounts to the Chart of Accounts and make amendments to certain regulatory legal acts to ensure the improvement of accounting and financial reporting in line with the nature of banking operations.
