The developed securities market expands the possibilities of regulating the economy, facilitates the attraction of financial resources to the real sector and cross-sectoral investment flows, and ensures more efficient functioning of the economic system as a whole by making necessary requirements such as corporate governance and increasing transparency.

The results of the research - the main development trends of the securities market in the country were revealed, the perspective development directions of the stock market capable of ensuring sustainable economic development, acting as a long-term source of finance were substantiated and suggestions and recommendations were made to improve its activity.

The originality and scientific novelty of the research - the role of the securities market in the economy and financial system, its functions were studied, the current state of the securities market of Azerbaijan, the main operations carried out, its volume, the dynamics and structure of development of individual market segments were analyzed and directions related to the securities market development were identified.
